When the leaf landed on her shoulder, a surge of energy run through her entire body. She
knew she had to look up. She knew it and still, her mind wouldn´t respond. Her eyes were fixed upon the foliage that covered the floor. So many, so colorful, so different, one from the other. It was like an enormous collage, unfolding right before her eyes. But the one leaf that mattered, right then and there, the only one carrying such terrible significance, wasn´t part of the forest´s vast canvas. It was calmly resting on her shoulder.

The sound stopped. Every being in the forest was silent again, every branch, petrified in
time. Sudenly, a faint noise above her head. She remained still. The leaf started it´s decent ever so gracefully. Completely spread, at first, it felt the rushing air covering every last inch of it existence. After a few moments it started rolling and twisting as it fell, the air pressing, directing it´s every move, dancing with it. As the leaf inevitably fell, it turned around and saw it´s branch, for the last time.

It was then when she heard it. Faint at first but getting louder, clearer. It sounded just like when her pet gurball ran around through the sawdust in his cage. The sound was getting closer -A rabbit or a mouse perhaps -she thought, trying to keep herself calm- Surely! -she exclaimed a second later- Surely that´s right, a litle rabbit shuffling around the leaves on the floor. The sound was closing in, she nervously looked around, trying to identify it´s source. The sound felt closer and closer yet the leaves all around her were completely still.

Rays of light, she saw, piercing the stuffy air. Particles floating, dancing all . around her. The forest stood silent. It was her´s. Not a single leaf dared jump from the soaring heights to the distant ground, decorated by their sisters. Time seemed to be of no importance and nothing mattered, nothing but that exact moment. She closed her eyes, breathed in. The forest was still there. The world was still there. Waiting.
